Politics’ False Gospel
Today, I had the privilege of watching Trent Horn’s recent video on Holocaust Denial, and the responses to the video drew me to this conclusion: conservative Catholics often fall into a works based gospel that is contradictory to the Church’s teaching. This is also the case for almost all secular political wings, and even conservative Protestant circles.
Politics can be thrilling; the passions and emotions brought forth from agreeing and disagreeing with a person over a very important issue can draw many to idolize policy, debates, and opinions. When we take on policy and forget faith, we have separated ourselves from Christ. When we take on faith, and forget love, we still have separated ourselves from Christ.
The commandment is not that you should call yourself a Christian, or that you should pray the rosary twice a day, or that you should receive Our Eucharistic Lord on the tongue, kneeling, no! Christ says you should love God with your whole heart, soul, and mind. How many of these babbling idiots who preach political policy truly love God with their whole heart, soul, and mind? I beg you all, stop being fools for ideologies and be fools for Christ. If only some of you prayed as much as you listened to Nick Fuentes or read Pinesap’s tweets.
Preaching did not come to the apostles first, but love for and faith in Christ, their unique and personal relationship with God made man equipped them with the ability to understand Christ’s message. Do you have such a personal relationship with Him? Is He your friend, your master, and daily savior?
Some of us think that doing things Christians do gets us into heaven, but I have very sad news: you can have taken all seven sacraments, the eucharist and a rosary daily, but if you do not have complete love and submission in your heart to Jesus Christ, you will not go to heaven. I think that’s hard to do, because I think the sacraments confer grace, and God’s grace sanctifies us, but believe me when I say that Jesus is the only thing you should be worried about today.
Today you may be able to relish in thrilling discourse with a person of another agenda, but tomorrow is not promised. Today is the day of salvation, bring your heart to repentance and love Christ with all of it. Do not give a portion to Christ, reserved for Sundays or conversations with clerics, but all of it. Catholics, don’t take refuge in morality, but in Christ- because after you take on Christ, perfect morality will follow. This same advice goes for my protestant brothers and sisters.
I say none of this to “call out” people like Nick or Pinesap, but when policy becomes the center of our lives, instead of the Gospel of Christ’s passion, then we have lost a great deal, and when we preach this- we will suffer for those whom we have lead astray. People with platforms, be wary and remember the words of St James in the Holy Scriptures, that teachers (this includes you) will be judged by a greater standard than those they teach.
Laudetur Iesus Christus.
Chris
